Mistakes, goofs, errors, boo-boos

Making a mistake isn't always a problem when making something. It doesn't mean you're not a good craftsman. The sign of a good craftsman is the ability to fix the inevitable mistakes. It's rare when you can't do something fairly simple to fix a goof. Last night I made a box with a lid that rubbed against a tray inside. To fix it, I made the tray smaller and set up a new way for the tray to fit in the box. Now it looks like I planned it that way.

Rabbet too wide? Try cutting some thin wood or even cardboard, coat it with glue and force it into the gap.

Drilled a hole in the wrong place? Fill it with a wood dowel and redrill it.

Did you cut one side of a box or shelf too short? Why not cut the longer side to fit, most people won't notice.
